Screen light to
ease your eyes.

Blue light is blocked
by a light absorbing film.

Advanced blue light blocking coating that helps users look at things
naturally and look to be natural to others at the same time

Are you satisfied with conventional reflecting type blue light blocking coatings?

  • I feel bothered when other people look at my eye areas
because the surface of the lens dazzles blue.
  • I feel bothered with flicker when the light
reflected on the back surface of the lens enters my eyes.
  • I feel bothered with unpleasant ghost,
which causes double vision by the double reflection of light coming from an oblique direction.

Resolve your troubles with the absorbing type!

Blue light is absorbed
and blocked.

New technology is adopted.

Blue light is blocked by the light
absorbing layer newly developed
through the latest technology,
and light is made easy on the eyes.

Conventional reflecting type blue cut coating

Method of bocking bluelight
by turning the surface of the lens
into blue reflected light and thereby allowing only the wavelength of blue light to reflect

Green reflected light
that looks natural

Reflected light is also green on the blue light blocking coating as is the case with general lenses.

Newly developed
absorbing type

Blue light blocking coating that absorbs and blocks blue light

Three advantages obtained from the change to the absorbing type

1Reduced glare by suppressing reflection on the surface

Conventional blue cut coating
(reflecting type)

The lens surface dazzles blue by illumination, and I am bothered with the look of the lens.

Blue Cut Prime
(absorbing type)

The absorbing type, which suppresses reflection, causes less glare even when illumination is reflected on the lens surface, and maintains a natural look.

  • *Reflectance on the front surface (spectral luminous efficacy) of a 1.6 plane plate (t= 2 mm), D65 light source, 2-degree field of view

Natural look with less glare

Even when illumination is reflected on the lens surface, glare is suppressed, and the look of the lens is beautiful to others.

2Blue light reflected on the back surface is reduced, and so is flicker.

Conventional blue cut coating
(reflecting type)

I am bothered by blue light reflected on the back surface of the lens.

Blue Cut Prime
(absorbing type)

Flicker is reduced by reducing blue light reflected on the back surface of the lens.

  • *Reflectance at an incidence angle of 45° on a 1.60 plane plate (t = 2 mm): Average reflectance at 380 to 500 nm
  • *The reflectance at an incidence angle of 45° was measured on the concave side using a plane plate sample and with the convex side sand-blasted and black-painted.

Comfortable field of vision with less flicker

Flicker caused by light reflected on the road surface or nearby objects and entering from the back surface of the lens is reduced.

3Unpleasant ghost, which cause double-reflected vision, is reduced.

Conventional blue cut coating (reflecting type)

On the conventional blue cut coating with strong reflection, particularly strong ghost occurs and causes double vision.

Blue Cut Prime (absorbing type)

Reflection on both surfaces and ghost are reduced, there is no excessive light, and objects are clearly visible.

  • *Reflectance on both surfaces (spectral luminous efficacy) of a 1.6 plane plate (t= 2 mm), D65 light source, 2-degree field of view

Objects look clear with less ghost.

By reducing unpleasant ghost caused by strong light in the nighttime, there is no excessive light, and objects are clearly visible.

Ghost on lens

Light double-reflected on the back and front surfaces of the lens reaches the eye and causes flicker or double vision.

Ghost is the phenomenon of flicker or double vision caused by light that passes through the lens and is reflected on the back surface and then on the front surface.

It is likely to occur outdoors during the nighttime, and occurs also on general lenses. Particularly strong ghost occurs on the conventional blue cut coating that causes strong reflection.

Dazzle and flicker are reduced by a blue light blocking effect.

Properties of blue light

Blue light is a type of light with a short wavelength of 380 to 500 nm. Among the types of visible light, blue light is the closest to ultraviolet rays and has strong energy. Thus, it gives rise to concerns about adverse effects on the eyes.

Since blue light is apt to collide with dust and moisture in the air and scatter, it induces dazzle and flicker and causes the contours of images to look blurring.

Blue light type

Blue light from a digital device

Much blue light is contained in light from LED displays for smartphones and personal computers among other digital devices.

Blue light of sunlight

Sunlight also radiates blue light with stronger energy. In addition, light reflected on the road surface contains much blue light.

Performance of Blue Cut Prime

Even the absorbing type cuts off blue light equivalent to the conventional reflecting type by approximately 14.4%.

Blue Cut Prime can effectively cut off not only ultraviolet rays but also blue light.

By blocking blue light, which is apt to reflect diffusely and has strong energy, objects will clearly look with accentuated contrast.

The blue light cutoff rate increases by using a LUTINA material.

LUTINA will cut out light (HEV), and help protect the essential Lutein within the eyes by reducing the production of oxidative stress.

LUTINA material which helps protects the Lutein within the eyes.

Blue Cut Prime, if combined with a LUTINA material, is effective in maintaining eye health and reducing dazzle at the same time. It can also block more blue light of sunlight by increasing the blue light cutoff rate.

  • ※2 HEV・・・High Energy Violet light:400〜420nm(HEV does not indicate the entire wavelength range of blue light.)

Blue Cut Prime is provided with P-UV as a standard specification.

Ultraviolet rays from 360° are blocked.

Ultraviolet rays entering the eyes from the back surface of the lens, in addition to the front surface, are significantly blocked.
  • *The reflectance at an incidence angle of 45° on a 1.60 plane plate (t = 4 mm) is the value calculated by subtracting the average reflectance value at an incidence angle of 45° at a wavelength of 280 to 380 nm from 100.

Blue Cut Prime is recommended to:

  • People who are bothered with glare on the surface of the lens, which occurred on the conventional blue cut coating
  • People who are bothered with flicker on the back surface of the lens, which occurred on the conventional blue cut coating
  • People who are bothered with double vision due to ghost, which occurred on the conventional blue cut coating
  • People who use their smartphones or personal computers for a long time every day
  • People who feel illumination light glaring in rooms etc.
  • People who are sensitive not only to ultraviolet rays but also to the blue light of sunlight
  • People who desire to maintain eye health and reduce dazzle at the same time
  • *Tint orders can not be made.

Notes on use

  • You may be bothered with light reflection or ghost images on the back surface of the lens.
  • The lens looks slightly colored because a blue light blocking function is provided. In addition, the color may look different depending on the light source.
  • Although this coating is designed to reduce dazzle and flicker by blue light, the effect is different among individuals.
  • This product is a plastic lens but may break if it is exposed to an excessive impact.
  • *All photos and illustrations are images. The reflection colors of lenses etc. are different from actual colors.
